The drama Les Miserables won the main award of the French Academy of Arts and Sciences - the Cesar Awards, which is an analogue of the American Oscar. This is reported by the publication Deadline. The director's nomination was won by Roman Polanski, who shot a movie based on real events called "The Officer and the Spy."

This movie was the leader in the number of nominations: in total, he claimed 12 awards and received three of them. Polanski himself had previously announced that he would not be present at the ceremony. "Activists threaten me with public lynching. Some are calling for demonstrations, others are planning to make a political platform out of it. It looks more like some kind of symposium than a major cinema event designed to reward his greatest talents," - said in the statement of the famous director. The same decision was made by the movie's production team.

The South Korean drama "Parasites", which had previously received almost all prestigious professional awards, including the main awards of the American Film Academy, won the nomination "Best Foreign Film".
