The Academy is considering postponing the 2021 Oscars. This is reported by Variety with reference to its sources. So far, no specific decisions have been made on this matter, as the organization's management intends to adjust its plans depending on the situation with the spread of the coronavirus. Recall that at the time of publication of this note, the Oscar 2021 ceremony was still planned on 28 February 2021. Traditionally, it was supposed to take place in Los Angeles. Earlier it became known that the Academy has changed a number of its rules, including the rules for awarding prizes in the main nominations, including "best movie". As an exception, next year they will be eligible for movie projects, unreleased, which opens up great prospects for movies and cartoons presented on various digital platforms, including streaming services. Previously, it was assumed that the right to be nominated for "Oscar" is only for those movie projects that were at least seven days in the box office in a commercial cinema and were shown there at least three times a day.
