HBO Max Subscribers Revealed
AT&T Corp. has revealed the number of subscribers to the HBO Max streaming service, created by its subsidiary Warner Media. The Hollywood Reporter, citing official information, claims that 4.1 million subscribers decided to use the service in the first month of operation. This is significantly less than at the time of the launch of another streaming service - Disney +. Recall that in just a few days the number of its subscribers exceeded 10 million. However, AT & T management is optimistic about the future and assures investors that it will be able to fulfill the previously announced plan - to attract 50-55 million HBO Max customers by 2025.
HBO Max launched on May 27, 2020 with a full HBO catalog, several original projects, and a library of old movies and TV shows, including the Studio Ghibli collection. At $ 15 a month, the new streaming service is one of the most expensive products on the market. But since a subscription costs the same as an HBO subscription, many preexisting premium cable subscribers have been upgraded to HBO Max at no additional cost.
