Academy of Film has called upon the Mother of Dragons
The American Film Academy has invited a record number of famous moviemakers to join its ranks. According to an official press release received by the Novosti Kino portal, 928 candidates were invited. Thus, the previous record set in 2017 was improved. Then 774 moviemakers were able to become members of the Film Academy. Among the lucky ones in 2018 were actresses Emilia Clarke, Lena Hedy, Evan Rachel Wood, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sofia Boutella, Lily Collins, Eva Green and others. A total of 49 percent of invitations were received by women, which also is an absolute record for an Academy Award. Recall that in 2016, during the scandal that took place under the motto #OscarsSoWhite, then acting president of the Film Academy, Sherryl Boone Isaacs, promised, that the number of women and representatives of other races will be doubled by 2020. We also note that the 2019 Academy Awards ceremony, during which the Academy Awards will be presented, will take place on February 24, 2019.
