Several popular Hollywood actors, including Channing Tatum and Chris Evans, claimed the lead role in Avatar, but James Cameron chose the then little-known Sam Worthington, who had only one advantage over his competitors. The director himself spoke about this in an interview with Empire Online.

"Chris Evans, Sam and Channing Tatum. That was my shortlist of applicants. I really liked Channing's version. I also liked Chris's expressiveness. They were both great guys. But Sam had the right timbre of voice and its intensity. They read their lines perfectly on the tests, except for one of the key ones, when Sally gets up and says: "This is our Earth. Fly fast like the wind." And everything in that spirit. I would follow Sam into battle. And I wouldn't follow other guys. Since then, they've had fantastic careers and all, but Sam was ready for the role right away. He was ready, "he commented.

Recall that at the time of publication of this article, the movieing of the sequels of Avatar was in full swing. Sam Worthington returned to the image of Jake Sully. Avatar 2 will be presented to the audience. at the end of 2020.
