Superheroes from popular comic book adaptations are much more likely to resort to violence than villains. This unexpected conclusion is contained in a study conducted by the American Academy of Pediatrics, which evaluated 10 superhero movies that were released in 2015-2016.

It turned out that positive characters, on average, resort to violence 23 times per hour, then as their opponents - only 18 times. Moreover, men do this five times more often than women. As for the classification of acts of violence, in most cases we are talking about fights (more than 1000 times), in second place were the cases of the use of lethal weapons (659 times), in third place - the destruction of property (199 times). 168 times, the protagonists committed murders. In all these indicators, they surpassed the antagonists.

One of the authors of the study, John C. Muller believes that adults should watch such movies with their children and actively discuss the consequences of violence, since children subconsciously tend to imitate their characters. "Children and adolescents think of superheroes as' nice guys' and can be influenced by the characters' risky behavior and their propensity to solve problems with violence," pediatricians say.
