Morgan Creek Entertainment is launching a new adaptation of the acclaimed work The Exorcist. According to IGN, citing its sources, the project is considered a priority, so viewers have every chance to evaluate it already in 2021.

Recall that in 1973, based on the novel of the same name by William Peter Blatty, a movie was shot, directed by William Friedkin. In the center of the plot is a young girl named Regan McNeill, who turns out to be possessed by the demon Pazuzu. A visiting priest attempts to perform a rite of exile, which leads to a tragic outcome.

Although horror movies rarely get the attention of the Academy, "The Exorcist" was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won two. The original movie spawned several sequels and spin-offs that have not achieved comparable success.

Later, an attempt was made to reboot the franchise in the form of a television series, which was positioned as a direct continuation of the first movie and ignored the plots of other tapes. Despite critical acclaim, Fox decided to close the series after its second season.

It is noteworthy that a few years ago, Morgan Creek studio categorically rejected the possibility of movieing a new remake.
