Xiaomi has introduced a new family of 14-inch Mi Notebook laptops. Each Xiaomi laptop in the series is built on a 10th generation Intel processor and features thin bezels. The main feature of the new products was the absence of the usual built-in camera - the manufacturer offered a removable solution instead.
Laptop without camera
The family includes the base Mi Notebook 14 and its older version, the Horizon Edition. The design of the models is very similar, but the main differences are inside. The more powerful Horizon Edition is equipped with a high-speed NVMe SSD, while the Mi Notebook 14 has a standard SATA drive. Also, the older model, unlike the base Mi 14, has a discrete graphics Nvidia GeForce MX350.
The company has created a laptop without a camera for users who fear for their privacy. The presence of a removable webcam will allow you to connect it as needed, and not cover the built-in lens with tape, as is usually practiced. In addition, another argument in favor of such a decision was the relatively small frames around the screen: the thickness of the top one does not exceed 0.3 cm. Therefore, the presence of a removable lens that is fixed on the lid and connected via a USB port is also due to the design features of the laptop.
All configurations of Mi 14 and the younger version of Horizon Edition are based on the Core i5-10210U - a quad-core processor with support for 8 threads and overclocked to 4.2 GHz. The older Horizon Edition build is based on the Core i7-10510U.
The 14-inch Xiaomi Mi laptop and its more powerful Horizon Edition received IPS-screens with support for the Full HD image standard. The full-size keyboard with 1.3mm key travel has multi-touch gesture support. Mi NoteBook 14 is compatible with 65W fast charging standard. The laptop has two 2W speakers.
The laptops are compatible with wireless Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 5. Its interfaces include a pair of USB 3.1, one USB 2.0 and one USB-C, an HDMI 1.4b port and an audio headset output.
Windows 10 Home Edition became the operating system. At the same time, each Xiaomi laptop of the new series additionally received Mi Smart Share - proprietary software support that allows you to quickly exchange data with other Xiaomi or Redmi gadgets.
Configuration and cost
In total, the new series of 5 models - three representatives of Mi Notebook 14 and two versions of the Horizon Edition. The differences between laptops are mainly due to the size of the built-in storage and processor models. At the same time, the amount of DDR4 RAM for all modifications is the same - 8 GB.
The cost of the youngest model Mi NoteBook 14 with a 256 GB SSD starts at 38,000 rubles. Its 512 GB version is estimated at 41,000 rubles, and the assembly together with the GeForce MX250 video card will increase its price to 43,000 rubles.
The price of Mi NoteBook 14 Horizon Edition based on the Core i5-10210U chip, the presence of a GeForce MX350 video card and a 512 GB volume will be 50,000 rubles. The version of the laptop based on the Core i7-10510U processor will increase its cost to 60,000 rubles.
