The summer game drought is over. Traditionally, with the beginning of autumn, the juiciest gaming season, we make a selection of the most important games in September. Summer wasn't too bad this time around in terms of game releases, but there will still be another series of major games coming out this fall that will compete for the title of Game of the Year. Here are all the top September games you shouldn't miss.

Crusader Kings III - September 1 [RS]

Crusader Kings III is the latest installment in the series of games popular among fans of advanced global strategy games, which began as a spin-off of Europa Universalis. The game invites players to rule a medieval dynasty over several centuries and lead it to power and glory, waging wars, conspiracies and skillfully dealing with other rulers.

Developers from Paradox Interactive are betting on the development of proven solutions and do not plan to turn the gameplay formula upside down. We will get a comprehensive strategy offering a variety of opportunities. This time, the developers have paid a lot of attention to making their work more accessible for beginners.

Of the innovations, we can highlight the ability to set more rights for the selected gender in the territory we control, as well as the various sexual preferences of the characters. The belief system will also be greatly expanded, and a stress mechanic will appear.

Iron Harvest - September 1 [PC]

This is a real-time strategy game set in the universe of the 1920s, created by Jakub Rozalski. It depicts a dieselpunk-style alternate reality in which 'Mechs were used on the front lines during World War I.

The game world is divided between three powers. The first, the Saxon-German Empire, lost the war and is trying to regain its former glory. Polyana is a rural country committed to maintaining the status quo and is pursuing a thorough modernization of the army to this end. Rusviet, despite being the greatest power, suffers from internal problems that can lead to revolution. In times of an already unstable political and military situation, the lands of the three states face a new threat in the form of mysterious forces.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 - September 4 [РС, Xone, PS4]

Another remake of the classic game from the time of the first PlayStation. However, the fact that this is a product of the current trend for remakes does not make the game worse. The developers at Vicarious Visions were tasked with creating a remake that would combine the content of the first two installments of the cult classic Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series of skateboarding games.

Although the game was made from the ground up to provide the most modern experience possible, the creators want to accurately recreate the physics and controls of the skateboard, including increasing the number of goals to be achieved on individual maps and adding tricks that debuted in later games in the series. Pro Skater 1 + 2 will include all levels, skaters and most of the classic music tracks from the two original games.

WRC 9 - 3 September [PC, XOne, PS4]

On September 3rd, you can not only flip the calendar, but also appreciate the WRC 9. This is another part of the rally racing series, whose roots go back to 2010. The latest version is being developed by the French studio Kylotonn, who have been working on this series since the fifth installment and created games such as V-Rally 4 and FlatOut 4.

The game features 50 official teams of the 2020 season and 15 of the most famous cars of the World Rally Championship. We are waiting for WRC class races, as well as WRC2, WRC3 and Junior WRC. The list of available seats will be expanded to include rallies in Japan, New Zealand and Kenya.

Marvel's Avengers - September 4th [PC, Xone, PS4]

This is a new game based on the most important franchise in modern pop culture, from Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal. The first team gave us Legacy of Kain and Gex and the Tomb Raider series, while the second team created Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Image

The game begins with the opening of the new Avengers office in San Francisco, but sabotage occurs, as a result of which many people die, and the Avengers themselves are disbanded. During their absence, a new threat emerges, forcing the team to gather again to protect the world.

In the storyline, we will be given to play as several characters like Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Iron Man, Captain America and Miss Marvel. There are also separate challenge modes for up to four people.

Mafia Definitive Edition - September 25 [PC XOne PS4]

The remake of the first Mafia has been redesigned from the ground up based on the Mafia 3 engine and offers much better visuals and more modern gameplay mechanics than the original. From the previews, it's safe to say the game looks amazing. New suburban locations have been added to Lost Haven, and the gameplay will feature modernized solutions such as the mini-map and the ability to change the difficulty level during the game.

At the same time, the distinctive elements of the original Mafia will be preserved, such as the police, which react to the slightest misdemeanors. In general, for those who want to enjoy an authentic experience, there is the option to include complexity close to the original. Motorcycles will be another innovation.

Serious Sam 4 - September 24 [RS]

Another return of the classics awaits us at the end of the month. The Serious Sam series appeared in 2001. In the following years, in addition to sequels, there were several re-releases and unusual spin-offs.

History has never really mattered in Serious Sam's games, and this time around, everything will remain the same. However, the creators decided to give him a little more attention and hired Jonas Kiraces to write - he became known as a gifted screenwriter after the wonderful The Talos Principle.

The action takes place before the third part of the series and describes the origins of the alien invasion of Mental on Earth. The only chance for humanity to survive against the lightning-fast enemy is Sam and the soldiers he commands from the Earth Defense Force.

The game may not be visually progressive, but the developers are betting on even more enemies to deal with.

Baldur's Gate 3 - September 30 [PC, Yearly Early Access]

It is worth accepting that the main games in September are often classic comebacks in an updated version. Baldur's Gate 3 is no different, but with the caveat that it is a sequel to two of the most iconic PC games that captured fans' hearts in 1998 and 2000. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 were originally developed by legendary BioWare, while the third part will be created by Larian, famous for the fantastic series Divinity: Original Sin.

The game takes place 100 years after the events of Baldur's Gate 2: The Throne of Bhaal. The city of the same name is invaded by a race of illithids [mind flayers], whose members kidnap some inhabitants in order to infect their minds and turn them into their own kind. Although our protagonist escaped being kidnapped, he was infected and the transformation seems only a matter of time. Trying to save the kidnapped and find a cure for the disease, the hero quickly discovers that the infection also brought with it unique abilities.
