The composer is to blame for the quarrel between is Software and Mick Gordon

Not too long ago, we talked about how Doom Eternal fans noticed that most of the soundtrack was not directed by Mick Gordon. They suggested that there was a quarrel between the composer and the studio, which Gordon himself hinted at. As it turned out, there was a conflict and it happened through the fault of the composer.

Marty Stratton from id Software spoke about this in detail on Reddit. According to him, in January, Gordon was contracted to create the soundtrack for the game. He had to mix at least 12 tracks.

By February, Gordon said he was running out of time to finish the job, so he took another four weeks, promising to mix about 30 tracks from the entire game, which he would translate into a full-fledged game soundtrack.

He was given two weeks more than he requested, making April the deadline. The album was supposed to be released on time together with the collector's edition, since without the soundtrack declared in it, buyers can return money for their pre-order.

Recall that the soundtrack in Doom and Doom Eternal is dynamic, it consists of blocks that are superimposed on each other directly during the game, so each player is different depending on the style of play. In order to convert them into a full-fledged soundtrack format, you need to do some more mixing work.

At the beginning of April, id Software had concerns that the composer would again disrupt the deadline for the work, so at the same time they gave the task to the studio's audio designer Chad Mossholder to start work on his own version of the soundtrack in case the fears come true. Only he did not have the source material that Gordon had and he worked with compressed versions of the tracks. Therefore, the dynamic range is much smaller.

The composer was told about this, to which he replied that they could join forces, as he would be late again. The studio asked him to send in soundtracks when ready. Stratton's plan was for Mossholder to put the recordings together in chronological order, and then some of his compositions would be replaced by Gordon's tracks when he sent them.

In the end, out of 9 tracks by Gordon, 8 were ambient, and only one was in the genre of heavy metal.

So, why didn't Gordon speak flatteringly about the soundtrack he didn't write himself? There are many reasons, ranging from the fact that the soundtrack included 59 songs, which contradicted the original plan, the rawness of Mossholder's material, to the corny that Gordon did not like Mossholder's material, as well as the fact that he was credited with co-writing the soundtrack [although id Software positions it like this].

At the moment it is known that all this led to the end of the collaboration between the composer and the studio. The DLC, which will be released in the near future, will not have Gordon's music. Still subject to change if they come to an alternative agreement.

The Last of Us Part 2 went gold

If you are tired of the constant transfers of The Last of Us Part 2, then this will not happen again. The creative director of The Last of Us Part 2, Neil Druckman, revealed on his Instagram that the game went gold. That is, the development is completely finished and the game is being printed.

He thanked his colleagues, once again called the game the most ambitious project of the studio, and assured that despite the leaks, not one of them can compare with his own experience of playing the game. According to him, by the end of the game, he even cried.

Recall that at the end of last month, unknown persons leaked important plot spoilers for the game. After investigation and finding the culprit, it turned out that neither Sony employees nor Naughty Dog were involved. These were the hackers who exploited the vulnerability in a patch for one of Naughty Dog's past games.

The Last of Us Part 2 will be released on June 19.

The Prince of Persia 6 domain has been registered on the network

The latest news about Prince of Persia was rather dubious - the studio made a VR attraction for the game, and also held a themed event in For Honor. However, in the midst of all this, we got hope, as perhaps the publisher registered a new domain for the game.

Image

The site is called Prince of Persia 6 [princeofpersia6.com] and according to WHIOS, this page is located on Ubisoft servers, which means that the copyright holder, and not someone else, had a hand in creating the site. The number six can be interpreted as the sixth game, since before that the studio had released five games: the trilogy about the sands of time, the restart, and The Forgotten Sands.

However, it is not a fact that the name will contain the number six - wholesale registration of names is quite a common thing. Themselves Ubisoft Montreal said that the series is paused. And the creator of the original trilogy, Jordan Makhner, hopes the series will return.

[Updated] At the time of writing, it became known that the site is still not owned by Ubisoft, due to the fact that princeofpersia6.com is not mentioned in the publisher's official domains. Therefore, there is a high probability that this is someone's joke.

Recall that Lilith will become the main character of the film and will look for Little Tina on Pandora. Lilith herself is one of the six Sirens. As a playable character, she appeared in the first part of the game, and then she was just an NPC. You can read more about the Borderlands movie in our material on the upcoming game adaptations.
