Taika Waititi will bring Flash Gordon back to screens
Five years ago, 20th Century Fox bought out the rights to film the Flash Gordon comics. However, attempts to return to the screens of the hero, whose peak of popularity came in the early 80s, were not crowned with success. At first, Guardians of the Galaxy crossed the road to the project, and after that the major was looking for a director for a long time, ready to solve the riddle of Flash Gordon. When such a man was found, the stumbling block was the merger of Disney and Fox. Now the solo album is taking on a completely different shape.The bosses of 20th Century Fox did not abandon the idea of making a film about Flash Gordon, but in the end, viewers will not see a blockbuster game, but an animation tape, which will be developed by Taika Waititi. He has recently been in demand in Hollywood, so his role in the creation of "Flash Gordon" remains in question. Waititi should at least develop an idea for a future cartoon, and only time will tell whether he will become the director and scriptwriter of the project. It is noteworthy that in one of the interviews Waititi admitted that before the start of filming "Ragnarok" he forced the whole team to revise "Flash Gordon" 1980. Apparently, the director appreciates the title character in the film.  After finishing work on the comedy "Jojo Bunny", which will be released in the fall, Waititi turned his attention to another long-suffering film adaptation - the fantastic action "Akira", but Taiki has no experience in the animation genre yet.
