Pizza from a robot chef: a pizza chain and a carmaker presented a device that can cook
Robotics performing various everyday functions are already surprising few people. And yet, the Pizza Hut robot - a joint creation of the global pizza chain of the same name and the Toyota carmaker - intends to do this. Both companies want not only to generate interest in their development, but also to create a new approach in the usual food delivery service. A robot from Pizza Hut and Toyota does an unusual job: it is preparing pizza in a car, which at this time is already driving to the right address to deliver the order to the client. Acquaintance with the new product took place at the SEMA Show (Las Vegas), where the presentation of new solutions from the automaker Toyota was held. The presented robot 2018, along with a mobile kitchen, was housed in the back of a Toyota Tundra, which changed its name to Tundra PIE Pro especially for this. "Kitchen on wheels" has a refrigerator with a set of necessary blanks, assembly and feeding mechanisms, a spacious oven for baking several dishes at the same time. According to the creators of the project, the Pizza Hut robot takes about seven minutes to cook pizza. First, one of the automatic mechanisms takes a workpiece from the refrigerator and sends it to the oven. Then another mechanism takes the finished dish, cuts it into pieces and packs it in a box. Then the car driver can hand over the finished order. However, Pizza Hut is not going to stop there and wants to expand the system to autonomous vehicles as they become more popular. Pizza Hut says the robotic chef is following the company's main idea, which is to shorten the time from the moment the pizza is prepared to the customer receiving it. The company plans to spend the coming months testing the created robotic system in order to find out how productive and viable it is in real conditions.
