Everything We Know About Horizon: Zero Dawn PC

Image

Last week we got the release date for Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC. Hermen Hulst spoke about this on the PlayStation blog. It's a novelty for Sony to bring its AAA exclusive to PC, so this will be one of the first of its kind. PC Gamer has collected all the information about Horizon Zero Dawn on PC.

Why is this important?

Over the past few years, Microsoft has embraced a reach strategy with Xbox One exclusives on PC. It was a great move by Microsoft, but the real winners were the players. Plus, the emphasis on crossplay made it better in the public eye. Sony has been slow to embrace this strategy literally right away, but it appears to be taking steps towards making PC gamers part of its ecosystem.

Horizon: Zero Dawn PC Release Date

We don't know the exact date yet, but Sony said the game is scheduled for this summer. The original PS4 launch was over two years ago in February 2017.

Hulst himself said that soon we will hear new information from Guerilla Games. He also confirmed that this is not the only exclusive that will be available to PC players.

The store page is already open

It was initially rumored that the game would appear on both Steam and Epic Games. However, now the game page is only in Steam, and there is no information regarding Tim Sweeney's store at all. At the same time, there is no information that the game will not be there either.

In comparison, Death Stranding will hit both Steam and the Epic Games Store sometime in the summer of 2020 as well. At the same time, Death Stranding is also an exclusive, the port of which is handled by 505 Games. Coincidentally, Death Stranding is powered by Decima, the engine created by Guerilla Games for Horizon: Zero Dawn.

PC version will be "full"

The full version of Horizon: Zero Dawn for PC will be released with a large expansion pack and several other cosmetic elements.

DLC The Frozen Wilds, which is a completely new winter map. It has new snow monsters and weapons.

Will there be any innovations?

The game page on Steam is still pretty stingy with at least some information. There are no system requirements or any mention of PC-specific features yet. We assume all improvements will be standard: higher frame rates, higher resolution and key binding.

What is Horizon: Zero Dawn anyway?

If for some reason you missed the information about the game due to its exclusivity, here's the point. This is an action game that revolves around a girl named Aloy. She kills dinobots in a very beautiful post-apocalyptic open world.

People returned to tribalism after the work got out of control and went crazy. At first, the concept may seem ridiculous to you, but everything is much more serious than it seems at first glance. Eloy has been an exile since birth, and grew up on the edge of the remnants of civilization. However, it is quickly becoming a cornerstone between intra-tribal politics as each tribe seeks new ways to fight robots.

While the story of HZD is good, the game is truly loved for its gameplay and the ability to kill, for example, the giant robot Tirex. During the battles, we must tactically think over ways to destroy the robot. This approach turns the fight into a kind of puzzle, where we confront huge opponents. For example, you can use a special type of arrows to destroy the cannons of robots and return them to their own firepower.

The game has nice elements of RPG and pumping, but in general it can be described as a kind of mixture of Assassin's Creed and Skyrim. Plus Aloy herself is an interesting and strong character. Also, a bunch of side quests, in-game activities are available to us according to the classics, although the game has not gone far from typical sandbox diseases and it still has a routine.

So far, that's all we can say about Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC. And although Hulst said that Sony does not plan to release its exclusives on PC in parallel with their release on the new console, at least we are waiting for a bunch of other ports, ranging from Infamous Second Son to Marvel's Spider Man.
