Riggs and Murtaugh want to shake things up
In March, Lethal Weapon celebrated its 30th anniversary. Once the action comedy by Richard Donner helped the buddy movie genre gain popularity among viewers, and even today the idea of the film has not lost its relevance, which FOX did not fail to take advantage of by airing the series of the same name.The last film in the Lethal Weapon franchise was released almost twenty years ago, and it seemed that the only thing the film series could count on today was a familiar reboot. However, Deadline managed to find out that Mel Gibson, Danny Glover and Donner himself are interested in creating the fifth part. At the moment, it is difficult to imagine how this idea will turn out. Even if the next film of the cult film series hits the screens next year, then Gibson will be 62 years old, and Glover will be 72 years old, not to mention director Richard Donner, whose last work, the crime drama "16 Quarters", was released more than ten years ago. ... And hardly any of the other actors in the franchise will agree to return. Martin Scorsese had to persuade Joe Pesci for a long time to interrupt his sabbatical and star in The Irishman.  So far, Lethal Weapon 5 is just an idea, and Warner Bros. Studio, which owns the rights to the franchise, has not made any statements on this matter.
