On the trail of the assassin of Martin Luther King
Hollywood producers more than once were going to tell from the big screens about the death of Martin Luther King, the famous fighter for racial equality and an outstanding political figure, but none of the latest projects has been brought to its logical conclusion. Perhaps the company Black Label Media will be able to do this, which will produce and finance a film called Hellhound On His Trail . The information portal Deadline writes about it.The project will be based on the eponymous non-fiction bestseller by Hampton Sides, shedding light on the details of the murder of King by James Earl Ray. Set against the backdrop of the civil rights movement, the film shows how King and Ray crossed paths, beginning one of the most famous persecutions in FBI history ... The offender was arrested two months later at London's Heathrow airport. The original book was published in 2010, became a bestseller and received a nomination for the Edgar award. The assassination of Martin Luther King and the ensuing hunt for Ray has thrilled the minds of many filmmakers. A couple of years ago, Antoine Fuqua was invited to lead the filming of the thriller Orders to Kill , and a little earlier, JJ Abrams's company acquired the rights to film the book Death Of A King . The director's chair of the new project will be taken by Scott Cooper , who adapted the novel by Sides . The director gained fame in Hollywood for the films "From Hell" and "Black Mass", and his next film, the western "Foes", he will present at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
