The British have named the best films of the XXI century

Image There is a widespread belief among journalists that cinema is in decline. Superhero blockbusters are increasingly replacing independent low-budget films, and the rapid development of online services even threatens that the day will come when people will stop going to cinemas.

What can really be called modern classics? Last year, the British media corporation BBC published a list of the top 100 American films, and only six of this list have been filmed since 2000. The journalists decided to rectify the situation and asked 177 critics to name the most iconic paintings of the 21st century.

The list includes films from various countries. Some directors are represented in a hundred at once by three films, among them are the Coen brothers, Christopher Nolan, Wes Anderson, Michael Haneke and Paul Thomas Anderson.

The top 30 best films of the 21st century according to BBC are as follows:

1. " Mulholland Drive "
