Directors Guild of America: road for young, honor for old people

Image The 69th Directors Guild of America Awards ceremony took place today at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. The association includes more than 16 thousand filmmakers who every year celebrate the achievements of their colleagues in the field of feature films, documentaries and television.

Damien Chazelle , 32, won the Best Feature Film Director nomination. Today's triumph has made the director of the musical "La La Land" the main favorite of the Oscar race: in its long history the Directors Guild has only seven times failed to predict the name of the future winner of the Academy Award .

Sir Ridley Scott is the recipient of this year's industry-leading honorary award. During his long and successful career in the world of big cinema, the 79-year-old Briton managed to try his hand at a wide variety of genres. In his filmography you can find the horror "Alien", the neo-noir thriller "Blade Runner", the road movie "Thelma and Louise", the historical epic "Gladiator", the action movie "Black Hawk Down", the sci-fi drama "The Martian" and many others famous paintings.
