The recent success of the films "Edge of Tomorrow" and "Mad Max: Fury Road" made it clear that viewers would like to see more charismatic action heroines on the screens. According to The Tracking Board , STX Entertainment is ready to fulfill the desire of film lovers, having won against MGM , New Line , Sony , Lionsgate , and 20th Century Fox the copyright to Matthew Altman's Red Widow script.The main character of the thriller will be Sarah Drake , who has decided to trade a successful spy career for a quiet and calm family life. When her husband is killed by a squad of former special forces eight years later, the agent has to remember her skills and take the path of revenge. Sara does not yet realize that she will soon find herself in the center of a government conspiracy that risks shaking the foundations of American democracy ... Altman made his debut as a Hollywood screenwriter with the low-budget horror film Feed the Devil, which did not receive much critical success. Insiders assess the prospects of " Red Widow " much better, as STX Entertainment intends to focus on such genre hits as "The Bourne Identity", "John Wick" and "Salt" .
