Steven Spielberg's production company Amblin Partners has battled to win the film rights to Ben Mezrich's new novel The Mechanic. The script for the upcoming picture will be taken up by the author himself, whose works are not transferred to the screen for the first time. Earlier, Mezrich's book “Reluctant Billionaires. An Alternative History of Facebook ”was the basis for David Fincher's biographical drama“ The Social Network ”. The plot revolves around a card player looking for easy money, a former con man with an incredible flair for stolen art, and a professor who has discovered a secret that can change humanity. All of them, unexpectedly for themselves, will be drawn into a story associated with a mystery for which people are ready to kill. Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, who are working on a film adaptation of another of Mezrich's books, will co-produce the film.
