Amazon will build a criminal empire
Amazon online service brings together a stellar team to tell the amazing story of talented programmer and crime syndicate Paul Le Roux. The streaming giant will team up with Noah Hawley (Fargo, Legion) and the Russo Brothers (Avengers: Endgame) to film the adaptation of Evan Ratliff's Criminal Genius: Drugs, Empire, Murder and Betrayal.Le Roux was considered one of the best programmers of his generation. In 1997, he released a free utility called E4M (Encryption for the Masses) for encrypting data on hard drives. He is also credited with the authorship of the famous TrueCrypt program. Paul took the wrong track at the start of the 21st century. First, he almost launched an online casino, and then created a network of distribution of drugs - from the analgesic tramadol to Viagra. Business went uphill, but Le Roux wanted more. Soon he began to conduct illegal transactions, and his range of goods was replenished with drugs and firearms. When Paul was finally put on trial, the prosecutor brought a bunch of charges, including trafficking in methamphetamine, selling technology to Iran, cheating, bribery, and complicity in seven murders. To get his sentence off the ground, the offender made a deal with the law and became an informant for the DEA ...  Ratliff began talking about Le Roux's antics on the Atavist portal. The articles were so successful that Evan sat down to write the book. The novel went to print earlier this year and has received rave reviews in the press. Anthony and Joe Russo became interested in the story of the cyber bandit in the spring of 2016, when Ratliff was just starting work on the book. Now the project has found powerful partners in the person of Amazon and Noah Hawley's company. The bestselling novel will be adapted by Christy Wilson-Cairns, whose filmography includes the TV series "Boulevard Horrors" and the winter movie "1917".
