Disney Becomes Scrooge
Many viewers believe that all of Hollywood's problems are related to the fact that studios have begun to focus solely on making a profit. Proof has come from the Dream Factory today that greed is indeed changing the face of film companies.The directors of the Disney cartoon "Beauty and the Beast" Kirk Wise and Gary Truesdale admitted that they did not receive a cent from the creators of the 2017 remake. Disney included the creators of the animated hit in the credits, but did not pay any financial compensation. And this despite the fact that many scenes of the remake are a complete copy of the original. The blockbuster grossed more than $ 1.26 billion worldwide, so even a minimal percentage of the box office could have made Wise and Truesdale millionaires. Creators of other cartoons, which received modern game remakes, were left without bonuses and compensations.  Disney may deal another terrible blow to the creators of the hits of the past: the studio is considering ending the release of movie classics on Blu-Ray at 4K resolution. We are talking about their own video library and films, passed to Disney after the acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Rumor has it that the studio will begin releasing classics in 4K exclusively on its online service Disney +.  Such a move is likely to lead to lower royalties for filmmakers. At the same time, the studio will continue to release modern blockbusters on discs. An exception can be made only for the most high-profile film projects of the past.
