Pinocchio has a new puppeteer

Image After the success of family films about the adventures of the Bear Paddington, director Paul King was in great demand in Hollywood. Early last week, the news came from the Dream Factory that Warner Bros. invited the Briton to lead the film adaptation of the children's book by Roald Dahl "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". As it became known to The Hollywood Reporter, King decided to take another step towards the title of the main storyteller of modern cinema.

Paul accepted Disney's invitation to direct a feature film based on the animated film Pinocchio. At one time, the cartoon about the hero of a children's fairy tale Carlo Collodi won two Oscars, but almost led to the bankruptcy of the Walt Disney company. Due to the outbreak of World War II, the film lost the opportunity to enter the international arena and failed at the box office. She managed to reach the level of self-sufficiency and start bringing profit to the studio only with the help of repeated releases.

The game version of the cartoon was launched in the spring of 2015. Initially, the Walt Disney empire planned to entrust the creation of the film to Sam Mendes, but at the end of last year he chose to abandon the project. Now Paul King and Jack Thorne ("Miracle", "Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams") are involved in the painting. The latter will have to rework the script by Peter Hedges and Chris Weitz.

The idea of making game remakes of their classic cartoons turned out to be a huge success for the management of Disney. Viewers have already appreciated the blockbusters "Maleficent", "Cinderella", "The Jungle Book" and "Beauty and the Beast", and ahead of them will be waiting for meetings with Dumbo, Aladdin, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Mulan and many other popular characters of Disney hits.
