Russell Crowe to star in The Prophet Remake
Russell Crowe will play a key role in the remake of the critically acclaimed and Oscar-nominated French film The Prophet. The new version is called American Son and will be directed by a director known by the pseudonym Rapman. Written by Dennis Lehane, the project will be produced by Neil H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe through their company Original Film.The protagonist of "American Son" ends up in prison and, having fallen under the influence of a ruthless local authority (Crowe will play him), begins to build his own crime syndicate from bandits of different nationalities. Then he frees himself from the oppression of his mentor and takes a place of honor next to the leaders of the Italian and USA mafia. Rapman attracted the attention of the studio Paramount, which is developing the remake, with his film Blue Story, but the search for the leading actor in the remake is still ongoing. It is still unknown when the shooting will start.  The original "The Prophet", directed by Jacques Audiar, was about an Arab who found himself in a French prison and went from the very bottom to the top of a criminal gang. The crime drama won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
