Victim to Criminals

Image Paramount Pictures is preparing a surprise for fans of action-packed kidnapping thrillers. The management of the California-based film company poured a seven-figure sum for the rights to the film adaptation of Adrian McKinty's book The Chain. Although the novel will only hit store shelves next month, literary critics are already singing their praises to it.

In the center of the narrative will be a woman named Rachel, whose 13-year-old daughter Kylie disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Soon, the kidnapper contacts the inconsolable mother, who lists strange instructions for the girl's return. The main character gets 24 hours to steal any other child. If she doesn't meet the deadline, Kylie will die. The situation is complicated by the fact that the kidnapper promises to release the girl only if Rachel convinces the parents of the kidnapped child to fulfill the same requirements and continue the chain of crimes ...

The preliminary synopsis of the book has surely aroused in our readers slight associations with the plot of the adrenaline-filled action thriller "The Chosen One". Shane Salerno (Hawaii Police) will produce the film adaptation of Chains.

Perhaps someday the Dream Factory will buy out the rights to create a film about the life of the author of the book himself. Thanks to The Chain, McKinty's fortune has taken a truly Hollywood turn. Adrian began his writing career in his youth. His books have often competed for literary awards, but have rarely made significant profits. To provide for his family, the writer had to work as a laborer and a taxi driver. On the threshold of his fiftieth birthday, he even thought about finally abandoning writing. As a result, McKinty pulled himself together and sat down to work on The Chain, which made him a dollar millionaire even before the official release of the work.
