Image British companies Heyday Films and BBC Films are preparing a screen version of one of the most famous and critically acclaimed Broadway musicals. Fans of musical theater will travel to the unforgettable 70s in the film adaptation of the legendary "Variety" (Follies).

The original musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Goldman debuted on Broadway in 1971. The production has received rave reviews in the press and won seven Tony Awards. Two years ago, the Royal National Theater of Great Britain presented its own version of Variety, which won two Laurence Olivier awards.

The musical tells the story of the Weissmann Folly collective that shone on the American theater scene between the First and Second World Wars. In 1970, the troupe gets back together for a final concert at the legendary Broadway theater, which is on the verge of demolition ...


Dominic Cook (The Empty Crown) will be in the director's chair, and Oscar-nominated David Heyman (Harry Potter, Gravity) will be the producer.
