Divorce and directed by John Watts

Image This week has been darkened for superhero fans by the news that Sony and Disney have cut a deal for their joint custody of Spider-Man. Now Peter Parker must leave the Marvel Universe, and Sony management with a clear conscience can send Spidey to the company to Venom. Journalists will probably continue to circulate rumors for more than one week that the two largest Hollywood studios have not actually shared, and the fact that the fight is now going on not only for Spider-Man himself, but also adds fuel to the fire of this conflict. and for John Watts, the director of the last two and incredibly successful blockbusters about Peter Parker.

So, Sony bosses have already enlisted the support of Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers - the scriptwriters of the movie "Spider-Man: Far From Home". They willingly agreed to work on the next Spiderman movie, which Sony will be filming. John Watts, however, has not yet been lured into his networks by the major. According to insider information, the director's contract with Marvel was designed for only two films, which means that now Watts is free to do whatever his heart desires. Marvel executives want to take advantage of this situation and leave Watts in their universe, offering him a place at the helm of one of their future projects. But it was Kevin Feige who once drew attention to the director - he received an invitation to the world of Marvel, having in his track record only the thriller "Police Car" and the low-budget horror "Clown".

It is curious that in one of his interviews actor Tom Holland claimed that he and John Watts are a real team and that the director understands such a character as Spider-Man like no one else. Unlike Watts, Holland has no choice: he signed up for four Peter Parker films, so he will have to work with any director Sony finds. As for Watts, it is not yet clear what project Marvel can offer him, since most of the blockbusters announced for the coming years already have directors, and the new "Blade" does not suit him at all in style.

And hardly after the resounding success of Far From Home, the list of hunters for John Watts will be limited to only two studios - other competitors, including streaming giants, are on the alert, and so far we can only guess how the filmmaker's career will develop further.
