Skiing against Hitler

Image Hollywood will tell about one of the most unusual military units of the Second World War. Argent Pictures and Mandalay Pictures are preparing a film about the exploits of the 10th American Mountain Division.

The first version of the division was born in 1918. The Americans wanted to help the Entente during the First World War, but the war ended before the soldiers left the United States. The army leadership found no use for the mountain infantry and disbanded the division. It was revived in the early 40s when amateur athlete Charles Dole assembled a motley team of recruits from cross-country ski aficionados, seasoned climbers and winter resort patrons. Dole's men had three years of hard training in the mountains of Colorado, a trip to the Alps and participation in key battles at the end of World War II.

The plot of the film will be based on the novel by McKay Jenkins "The Last Ridge" (The Last Ridge). It is worth noting that Argent Pictures is already familiar with the military theme: in 2016, she participated in the creation of the wonderful drama For reasons of conscience.
