Confrontation is gaining momentum

Image The adaptation of Stephen King's Confrontation took years to complete. The project changed hands several times and could take on a variety of guises - from a three-hour movie to a television series with an ending on the big screens. Ultimately, Confrontation will be limited to a TV presence and will become a ten-episode show for the CBS All Access streaming platform.

Officially, work on the mini-series began in January, and while the management of the online service is in no hurry to disclose the cast of the project. However, insiders still managed to find out the names of those who can take part in the filming. So, negotiations on getting the role of Stuart Redman are conducted by James Marsden ("X-Men"). Stu is a native of Texas with immunity to the virus that has decimated most of the world's population. He later becomes the leader of the community known as the "Free Zone" and must confront the embodiment of evil - a man named Randall Flagg. In the 1994 adaptation, Stu was played by Gary Sinise.

It seems that the CBS management has decided to assemble a stellar line-up at the site of the new "Confrontation", since the negotiations with the company, in addition to Marsden, are being conducted by Amber Heard (Aquaman) and Oscar winner Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act). Heard, if successful, will play Nadine Cross, a schoolteacher who believes that her place is next to Flagg. Goldberg claims to be Mother Abagail, a 108-year-old Negro woman who is immune to the virus and led a group of survivors to Boulder, Colorado.

Oscar nominee Greg Kinnear (It Can't Be Better) can appear in Confrontation as Glen Bateman, an intelligent professor who went with Stu in search of Mother Abagail. The rising movie star Odessa Young (Killer Nation) is also in the negotiation stage - she claims to be a pregnant student Frannie Goldsmith, and Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) will play the deaf-and-dumb tramp Nick Endros.

Confrontation was written by Josh Boone (Fault in the Stars) and Benjamin Cavell (Homeland). Boone will also lead the filming of the series.
