Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will plunge into darkness
In 2014, Paramount released the blockbuster Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which grossed nearly $ 500 million at the box office. It was followed by a sequel, which, much to the dismay of the major, failed and failed to recoup its budget. For several years, the studio bosses thought about what to do with the popular franchise, and in the end decided to give it a restart. Before becoming a money-making machine, the mutant quartet was positioned as a parody of popular graphic novels of the 80s, with blood and scenes of violence, and after that their story was adapted for a wider audience. The creators of the reboot were reportedly focused on shooting an R-rated movie, but the failure of Birds of Prey curbed their enthusiasm. Now the producers are thinking of lowering the age limit, but at the same time not turning "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" into a movie for children, as happened with the updated dilogy.  While work on the reboot is at an early stage, no final decision has been made yet. A darker version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would breathe new life into the franchise, but it's unclear if Paramount is willing to take the risk, as not all adult-rated blockbusters are destined to repeat the success of Deadpool or Joker.
