Shenmue Game to Become an Anime Series
Good news for fans of the animation and gaming industry: WarnerMedia and SEGA will team up on an anime series based on the popular Shenmue franchise.The first part of Shenmue was released in 1999 and became the most expensive game of its time. Financial analysts believe that SEGA spent from $ 47 to $ 70 million on the creation of the project. The protagonist of the game was the master of martial arts Re Hazuki, who went in search of his father's killer. The game received flattering reviews in the press, but its circulation left much to be desired. SEGA worked at a loss, but still released the second and third parts of Shenmue. The sequel was released in 2001, and the triquel in 2019.  The rights to air the anime will be shared by WarnerMedia's subsidiaries, online service Crunchyroll and Cartoon Network.
