”Nika” flew away, but promised to return
At the end of March, the Nika national award ceremony was to take place in Moscow. However, the coronavirus made adjustments to the activities of the filmmakers, and the organizers had to postpone the date of the ceremony. So far, it is only reported that the awards for achievements in the field of cinema in 2019 will find their owners in the fall. No exact date has been set for the ceremony.According to the head of the award, Yuli Gusman, the organizers of the event are ready for its holding. However, the ceremony implies the presence of more than one and a half thousand people - members of the USA Academy of Motion Picture Arts, television and press representatives, and other guests. Gathering so many people in the current situation is an unreasonable risk. The nominees for the Nika Prize were announced on March 2. The greatest number of references, namely nine, received the historical drama "Frenchman". Kantemir Balagov's "Dylda" breathes in her back: she has eight nominations.  Despite the fact that the winners of "Nika" in the main categories will be announced only in the fall, the first winners of the award for 2019 are already known. In the "Honor and Dignity" nomination, academicians noted the Soviet and Azerbaijani writer, screenwriter and director Rustam Ibragimbekov. The honorary award "For Contribution to the Cinematographic Sciences, Criticism and Education" was received by film critic Elena Stishova.
