The winners of the Nika 2017 award, which is awarded by the USA Academy of Cinematic Arts, have been announced in Moscow. In the category "Best Film", the victory was won by "Paradise" directed by Andrei Konchalovsky.
The movies The Queen of Spades, The Duelist, The Collector, The Monk and the Demon and The Apprentice also claimed the trophy.
The "Nika 2017" award in the category "Best Actor" was given to Timofey Tribuntsev ("The Monk and the Devil"). His competitors were Konstantin Khabensky ("The Collector") and Mikhail Efremov ("Good Boy"). In a similar female category, the prize was awarded to Yulia Vysotskaya ("Paradise"). Other applicants were Natalia Pavlenkova (Zoology) and Ksenia Rappoport (Queen of Spades).
Andrey Konchalovsky ("Paradise") won in the category "best director". His rivals were Nikolai Dostal and Kirill Serebrennikov. The director Alexander Sokurov was previously named the winner of the Nika 2017 award in the category "For honor and dignity" named after Eldar Ryazanov. Director Alexander Mitta received the award in the nomination "for his contribution to the development of cinema". Director Alexei Krasovsky ("The Collector") was named the Discovery of the Year.
The jubilee, 30th, awards ceremony of the USA Academy of Motion Picture Arts took place at the Mossovet Theater. The president of the award is director Andrei Konchalovsky.
