Ren and Stimpy will return to TV screens

Image Comedy Central continues to bring back the legendary cartoon characters of the 90s. No sooner had the audience moved away from the news of the resuscitation of Beavis and Butt-Head, when the comedy channel sent the reboot of The Ren and Stimpy Show to work.

The original premiered on August 11, 1991 on Nickelodeon. In the center of the plot are the crazy adventures of the dog Ren and the cat Stimpy. The series gained immense popularity, but, as is often the case with adult cartoons, raised questions from advocates of morality. The case ended with the channel starting to cut scenes about sex, religion and politics. Soon, a serious conflict broke out between the management of Nickelodeon and the creators of the animated show.

Despite the offscreen problems, the cartoon delighted the audience for 5 seasons. The last episode aired on Nickelodeon in December 1995. A year later, MTV released two lost episodes of The Ren and Stimpy Show, and in 2003, the cartoons returned to television with Ren and Stimpy: Cartoons for Adults. However, the Spike project was so bad that only three episodes aired.

Fans of Ren and Stimpy can only hope that Comedy Central will take into account the mistakes of its predecessor and remove a worthy reboot of the original.
