The WB will host a new ”Training Day”

Image The crime thriller "Training Day" became a hit in the box office at one time, brought wide popularity to director Antoine Fuqua, and Denzel Washington received an Oscar for his role as cop Alonzo Harris. Now Warner Bros. wants to repeat this success with the "Training Day" prequel.

The action of the film will unfold ten years before the events of the original picture. It's the end of April 1992, and there are only two days left before the verdict in the Rodney King case will be announced. Even then, Los Angeles was a powder keg, ready to explode at any moment, and the court decision became a match for him - riots broke out in the city, and a young policeman Alonzo Harris is at the center of all these events.

Journalists are already betting on who will star in the prequel, and they think John David Washington is an excellent candidate. Denzel Washington's son is building his own successful career in Hollywood: he was praised for his performance in "The Black Klanman", after which Washington also got the lead role in the new film by Christopher Nolan.

It's too early to say who will succeed Denzel Washington in the role of Alonzo Harris, since the project is at an early stage of development, and now it has only a screenwriter - Nick Yarborough was chosen by him. It is noteworthy that two years ago CBS tried to revive "Training Day" in the format of a television series, but it lasted the entire season, presenting viewers with one of the last roles of Bill Paxton.
