The fate of the director
The popular USA actor, director and producer Fyodor Bondarchuk will talk about the life and work of his famous father. Art Pictures Studio has started to create a documentary about the People's Artist of the USSR Sergei Bondarchuk.Bondarchuk Sr. began his film career as an actor, but soon became interested in directing. He made his debut in a new capacity in 1959 with The Destiny of Man. This was followed by a large-scale adaptation of War and Peace, which won the Oscar, Golden Globe and Grand Prix of the Moscow International Film Festival. In the late 60s, Bondarchuk teamed up with the eminent Italian-American producer Dino de Laurentiis to create another epic - Waterloo. The tape received a record budget for those times: some sources say the amount is $ 40 million. The painting won two BAFTA awards, but could not recoup the production costs. Returning to the USSR, Sergei filmed the piercing war drama "They Fought for the Motherland", which won the title of the best USA film in 1975 according to a poll by the magazine "Soviet Screen". The filmography of Bondarchuk Sr. also includes such films as "Steppe", "Red Bells", "Boris Godunov" and "Quiet Don".  The director's chair of the documentary will be taken by Anton Zhelnov and Denis Kataev. The film crew will travel to several USA regions, France, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States, and will also arrange interviews with Jean-Luc Godard, Dino de Laurentiis's widow and Stanley Kubrick's daughter.
