Michael Mann chases De Niro
As reported by Variety , Cecchi Gori Media has appointed Michael Mann (Skirmish, Collaborator) to direct the biographical drama about the life of the famous Italian racing driver. designer and entrepreneur Enzo Ferrari. The project has been in the works since 2004, when Al Pacino claimed the lead role in the film. Sidney Pollack was supposed to take the director's chair, but the death of the filmmaker in 2008 meant the biopic was taken away on the shelf.Having gone through difficult times for itself, the famous Italian film company decided to resume work on the picture. Mann is reportedly hoping to combine scripts by Troy Kennedy-Martin (The Italian Heist) and David Rafeel (Three Days of the Condor), based on Brock Yates' book Enzo Ferrari: Human , cars and races ".  Next month, Cecchi Gori Media plans to present his project to the judgment of major Hollywood studios at the Cannes Film Festival . Mann will have to compete with another biopic Ferrari , in which Robert De Niro got the main role a few days ago.
