Today marks 85 years of George Danelia - a cult director, screenwriter and actor, a living classic of USA cinema, whose films are known, loved and quoted by more than one generation of residents of our country. It was under his strict guidance that the films “ I walk around Moscow ”, “ Autumn Marathon ” and “ Kin-dza-dza! ” were filmed. In total, Danilia has 18 films, most of which he also wrote or co-wrote.The family of Georgy Nikolaevich has strong bonds with the world of cinema: his mother worked at Mosfilm as an assistant director and director. Despite this, Danelia did not immediately come to the cinema, but at first chose a much more mundane profession: after graduating from the Moscow Institute of Architecture, he got a job as an architect. Georgy learned that directorial courses had opened at Mosfilm by pure chance, walking with a friend and seeing a newspaper read by one man in the park.  The debut of Danelia in a feature film was the film “ Seryozha ” (1960), which brought together more than three million inhabitants of the USSR. This film, which received the " Crystal Globe " at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, is based on Vera Panova's story " Several Stories from the Life of a Very Little Boy ". Already in this first film, it was clear that Danelia is most important to reveal a person's character through his actions and deeds.  This was followed by the psychological drama “ The way to the pier "And the lyrical comedy" I walk around Moscow ", which made Nikita Mikhalkov, Alexei Loktev, Galina Polskikh and Evgeny Steblov famous overnight. Yevgeny Leonov, who since 1965 has not missed a single Danelia film, first appeared in the satirical “unscientific fiction” about toothache “ Thirty-three ”. And the tragicomedy “ Don't Cry ” with the participation of Vakhtang Kikabidze became the subject of special pride of the legendary director, who always tried to keep the bar high: “The closest thing to what I wanted was in this film".Despite the call not to grieve, in the comedies of Danelia there are always dramatic notes, a kind of laugh through tears. " Mimino ", " Afonya " and " Autumn Marathon " are the brightest confirmation of this. It is thanks to Georgy Nikolaevich that Andrei Makarevich and his group " Time Machine " first joined the world of cinema: shooting in the film " Afonya " brought them a decent those days a fee. “ Mimino ”, according to the director himself, is a story “about the feeling of homeland, about this very specific, tangible corner of the native land”, about nostalgia in a person who has achieved what I've always dreamed of. Like “ Do not grieve! ”, this picture is a declaration of love for a long-abandoned country, because  Released in 1979, " Autumn Marathon " caused a real commotion: after all, this is a story of adultery, one might say, from the inside, through the eyes of a person who, because of his softness, does not belong to himself. A talented translator Buzykin is torn to pieces by a changeable mistress, a deceived wife, a neighbor who likes to drink and a mushroom picker. And Andrei Pavlovich has to spend time on the labors of a mediocre classmate and do other things to which he, in general, has nothing to do. “I can't change my life anymore,” Oleg Basilashvili's hero summarizes his marathon.  In the cult sci-fi comedy " Kin-Dza-Dza! " (1986), the Danelia -scriptwriter uses a good old trick, a win-win since the days of Swift: to make the familiar and painful strange, incredible , but also recognizable. What if the valuable resource is not gold or oil, but match sulfur? What will change from this? And will a society be so different from ours, in which the color of pants will be the measure of social status? ..  The creation of the picture was associated with considerable difficulties: the clothes and props of the inhabitants Pluka had to be made from scrap materials, often found right on the spot in the Karakum desert. Sailor canvas pants, old flight suits, pieces of fabric from a landfill were used. Some things the director had to paint himself, using a bath of ink. Something had to be deliberately abandoned in order to achieve the desired artistic effect: when Mosfilm allocated for filming a rare film at that time Kodak , Georgy Danelia and the operator of the picture Pavel Lebeshev decided to use domestic,
 The premiere of the film about the adventures of Gedevan and uncle Vova on the planet Chatlan and the Boys took place at the House of Cinema in Moscow and turned into a failure, but gradually, despite its seeming strangeness, “ Kin-Dza-Dza! ”began to grow fans.
