Big Beach Films has begun work on a film about one of the most popular board games in the world, Monopoly . According to Variety , the script will be written by Howard E. Rodman (August), who was elected president of the Writers Guild of America West Chapter last month. The plot will be based on two books at once - " Monopolists " by Mary Pilon and " Monopoly: A Billion Dollar Fraud " by Ralph Anspack.In her book, Pilon told the scandalous story of a board game. Parker Brothers began selling " Monopoly " in 1935, quickly making it America's most popular entertainment. Few knew that its prototype was created in the early 20th century, when Elizabeth Maggie received a patent for the game " Landowner ", which showed the negative effects of monopoly.  As for Anspack , he is known as the creator of the game " Antimonopoly ". In 1974, Parker Brothers sued him for using their trademark. In his defense, Ralph made a special emphasis on the fact that the producers of " Monopoly " at one time themselves broke the law, stealing the idea of the game from Elizabeth Maggie . The unnamed film will be produced by Mark Turtletaub, Peter Seraf and Diane Nabatoff.  In early July, Lionsgate and Hasbro also began work on a film based on Monopoly .
