Garfield will conquer the big screens again

Image Garfield has already entertained audiences on screens in two full-length feature films, and now Hollywood has decided to create an animated film about a ginger cat. According to the site Deadline , the project is being developed by Alcon Entertainment , which acquired the rights to film the comics of Jim Davis. The latter will be the executive producer of the cartoon.

Alcon is hoping to create an entire franchise about a selfish and unstable cat who loves lasagna and hates Mondays. What will be discussed in the new project is still unknown.

The title character in both films was voiced by Bill Murray, but insiders doubt that the actor will join the work on the cartoon. Murray admitted to reporters that he agreed to voice Garfield by mistake, believing that the script for the film was written by one of the Coen brothers. In the press, Bill spoke negatively about the tape itself and the process of its creation. The lazy cat dilogy was crushed by critics, but viewers were imbued with the story of Garfield and left $ 200.8 million in theaters to watch the first part.

Producers of the new project, Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosov, said in their statement:"The brainchild of Jim Davis has become a real sensation among viewers of all ages, and we will gladly return Garfield on big screens ".

The first comic strip about Garfield appeared in print in 1978. The cynical cat later became the central character of animated series and three cartoons, which immediately went on video.
