American Crime Story sparks a new trend
As soon as American Crime Story earned rave reviews from critics, FX had a lot of imitators. According to The Hollywood Reporter , criminal anthologies about the most famous crimes in US history are ready to launch two American broadcast channels at once.The television network CBS has ordered the production of a so far untitled series, the first season of which will focus on the murder of JonBenet Ramsey . By the age of six, the young model managed to win many children's beauty contests. On December 26, 1996, Patsy and John Ramsey reported to the police that their daughter had disappeared and a note was found demanding to pay $ 118,000 for her life. On the evening of the same day, officers found the girl's corpse in the basement of their house, which immediately made the parents and brother of JonBenet the main suspects in the crime. The family's involvement in the murder has never been proven. In 2013, it was reported that a grand jury was prepared to indict Patsy and John for child abuse in 1999, but the district attorney found the evidence to be insufficient. In 2003, a genetic examination proved that the blood on the girl's clothes did not belong to her parents.  Over the years, the case has been reopened several times. Recent studies have shown that in 1996, there were almost four dozen people within a radius of several kilometers from the house of Ramsey , who at various times were suspected of committing crimes of a sexual nature, but to date, the true identity of the killer has never been installed. Three Emmy Tom Foreman , who previously worked primarily in the reality genre, received an offer to lead the production team for the series.  Meanwhile, NBC has decided to develop the famous brand " Law & Order " by launching the crime drama Law & Order: True Crime . The plot of the first season of the anthology will focus on the infamous Menendez brothers, who killed their own parents on August 20, 1989. To secure an alibi, Lyle and Eric went to the nearest movie theater, hoping to see a Batman show. All tickets were sold out, which is why the duo of killers had to watch the tape "License to Kill". After some time, the brothers returned to the scene of the crime, from where they called the police.  Just a couple of months after the funeral of their parents, Lyle and Eric began to squander money, prompting the detectives to check them again for involvement in the crime. During the trial, the defense insisted that the brothers had been abused by their parents since childhood. Some jurors found this story compelling enough, which made it possible to reach a verdict only the third time. Ultimately, the brothers were sentenced to life in prison without parole. Like the famous OJ Simpson case, which was the focus of the first season of American Crime Story, the trial of Menendez was heavily covered on North American TV.
