Chou Yun-Fatu is 60!
Today the star of the Chinese and world cinema - Chow Yun-Fat celebrates his anniversary.Yun-Fat was born in 1955 on Lamma Island in the South China Sea. The family of the future screen star moved to Kowloon when he was ten. At the age of 17, he was forced to drop out of school in order to actively help his parents. In those days, he had to earn money as a courier, postman, salesman and taxi driver. The young man's life changed dramatically at the moment when he decided to respond to the announcement of the search for actors for the programs of the television company TVB . Chow has made Shanghai Beach ( Shang Hai tan ) the real star of the small screen. The first attempts of the actor to reach the same heights in big cinema were not crowned with success, but everything changed in the mid-80s, after Yun-Fata met John Woo. Their very first joint project, "Bright Future", became a real hit in Asia, securing the status of rising stars for the director and actor. Role in this film earned Chow his first of three Hong Kong Film Academy Awards .  His collaboration with Wu helped Chow win the title of action icon, and his films have had a huge impact on filmmakers around the world. City on Fire was the inspiration for Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs, and the one-take hospital shootout at Hardcore Boiled is still considered one of the brightest action scenes in cinema history.  Having received the title of "the coolest actor in the world" from the journalists of The Los Angeles Times , Yun-Fat set off to conquer Hollywood. At this stage in his career, he starred in films such as The Substitute Assassins, The Corruptor, and Anna and the King. His return home to work on Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which won four Oscars in 2001, was a huge success for him. In subsequent years, the actor delighted his fans with roles in the films Bulletproof Monk, Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End, Shanghai and Confucius.  Last year, Yun-Fat ranked second on the list of highest paid Chinese movie stars. In 2008, he published a collection of his photographs, channeling the proceeds from his sales to victims of the Sichuan earthquake.
