Batman and Superman achieved justice in the US box office
Movie fans around the world have finally waited for the release of the blockbuster " Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ", designed to continue the construction of a cinematic universe based on DC comics. And, of course, it came as no surprise that Zach Snyder's film easily took over the North American box office this weekend ( March 25-27 ).Blockbuster ended its first week with an impressive record - $ 170.1 million in home theaters - and broke several records at once. It is noteworthy that the film grossed the largest box office on its debut weekend among all the projects of the studio Warner Bros. On the global market, Batman and Superman are doing even better - the award for superheroes was $ 254 million , and in total, Snyder's tape already has $ 424.1 million . Analysts believe that the blockbuster should easily surpass the $ 1 billion mark. However, not everything goes so smoothly: before the official premiere, a flurry of negative criticism fell on the film. The blockbuster currently has a 29% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is B by viewers on CinemaScore .  Among the complaints of the reviewers, there was a complaint that the gloominess of the tape Snyder bypassed its predecessor - "Man of Steel". According to critics, the confrontation between Batman and Superman is certainly a serious matter, but a couple of jokes would not hurt the film. After this, director James Wang, just in case, hurried to assure moviegoers in advance that his Aquaman would be much more fun.  On the other hand, reviewers have noted that Ben Affleck is convincing as a guardian of Gotham, and Gal Gadot proved that her Wonder Woman has great potential. This week the film Snyder will not have any serious competitors, and therefore the director and the company should hope that the audience of the tape, despite the negative reviews, will not decrease too much.  The cartoon " Zootopia " is also deservedly lucky: the creation of Disney continues to collect gratitude from cinema goers. Last weekend, already the fourth in a row, the film finished with a result of $ 23.1 million , which brought him second in the financial ranking. All in all, the Americans gave the film $ 240.5 million , and its achievements in the world are estimated at $ 696.7 million (including household fees). And since no high-profile premieres are expected this weekend, Zootopia will surely remain in the top five.  Third place went to the newcomer of the box office - the comedy Kirk Jones " My Big Greek Wedding 2 ", which earned $ 18.1 million during the premiere weekend. At one time, the first film suddenly became a real hit, and its sequel still lives up to the expectations of distributors. However, critics expected more from the rom-com. According to them, the second film is painfully similar to the first. Nia Vardalos, who not only played the main role, but also wrote the scripts for both films, took as a basis the proven formula for the success of "My Big Greek Wedding". This is probably the reason why the new comedy did not turn out as funny as the original, but it can still be called a sweet attempt to remember the past.  The religious drama " Miracles from Heaven ", which managed to raise $ 9.5 million on its second weekend, fell to the fourth place in the financial rating. Now in the piggy bank of the tape Patricia Riggen there is $ 34.1 million - not a bad result for a picture with a budget of $ 13 million . The film, which received mixed reviews, is not so much trying to promote faith in heaven to viewers, but to show that miracles happen. The main thing is to notice them in everyday life.  The fourth position with "Miracles from Heaven" was shared by the blockbuster " Divergent, Chapter 3: Behind the Wall ", the creators of which still hope for a miracle. The second weekend for the film Robert Schwentke was $ 9.5 million , and the total gross of the tape is $ 46.6 million . At the same time, out of the entire top 10, the third Divergent lost the largest number of audience - 67.3%. Now the blockbuster can only hope for fees outside the United States (which are still $ 71.8 million ), otherwise the production budget will not be recouped.
