Benicio del Toro invited to a galaxy far, far away
According to The Wrap , Disney and Lucasfilm Studios have offered the Oscar winner Benicio del Toro("Traffic") play the villain in the eighth episode of the space saga " Star Wars ". According to insiders, initially the film companies were negotiating this role with Joaquin Phoenix, but he decided to continue the tradition of refusing to participate in popular franchises.Several years ago, del Toro claimed the role of the main antagonist of the blockbuster Star Trek: Retribution, but ultimately decided to withdraw from JJ Abrams' film, as a result of which Paramount was forced to find a replacement in the person of Benedict Cumberbatch. However, the actor then proved that he was ready to work on long-running film series, agreeing to embody the image of the Collector in the Marvel universe.
