Ken Watanabe will flee justice

Image Beware, the remake addiction virus broke out of the United States and began to spread rapidly around the world! Japanese broadcaster TV Asahi will merge with Warner Bros. in the work on the TV movie based on the famous Fugitive franchise.

In the early 60s of the last century, American writer and screenwriter Roy Huggins came up with a gripping story about Dr. Richard Kimble, sentenced to death on false charges of murdering his wife. The original version of "The Fugitive" was released in screens from September 1963 to August 1967. The action-packed series has received flattering reviews in the press and has won several valuable awards, including an Emmy in the category Best Drama Series.

In 1993, Harrison Ford played the role of Kimble in the film version of The Fugitive. The picture by Andrew Davis nominated for seven "Oscars", but completed the 66th ceremony of the main film awards in the world with just one statuette: the victory in the nomination "Best Supporting Actor" went to Tommy Lee Jones.

Five years later, the Oscar-winning actor returned to the role of Federal Marshal Samuel Gerard in the full-length spin-off "Servants of the Law." Two years later, CBS tried to film a television remake of the cult series. To the disappointment of fans of the franchise, The Runaway: The Chase Continues only aired for one season.

Both the original series and its film version are wildly popular in the Land of the Rising Sun. In this regard, the management of TV Asahi acquired the rights to create its own adaptation of the ageless story about the confrontation between a talented surgeon and a mysterious one-armed killer. The action of the Japanese "Fugitive" will unfold in Tokyo shortly before the start of the XXXII Summer Olympic Games. The main character of the picture will be Dr. Kazuki Kakurai, who will escape from custody and go in search of the culprit of all his troubles and misfortunes. Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai, The Beginning) will portray the protagonist.
