While American film academics are just getting ready for the distribution of prizes, the British are already choosing with might and main those who distinguished themselves by outstanding achievements in the world of cinema last year. The 72nd BAFTA Awards took place at the Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences in London. The event was hosted by actress Joanna Lumley for the second year in a row. The main contender for the prizes of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts was considered the drama "Favorite", and she justified her status in full, taking home seven golden masks. However, the holiday for the creators of the picture was spoiled by "Roma": the tape of Alfonso Cuaron snatched victory in the category "Best Film", thereby adding to itself chances at the upcoming Oscar ceremony. It is noteworthy that it was “Favorite” and “Roma” that received the largest number of mentions in the list of Oscar nominees, so the struggle on the stage of the Dolby cinema will be serious.
