Jaws Star asks for a new shark to be added to the movie
Although Americans are hardly familiar with the expression “there would be no happiness, but misfortune helped”, it is this USA proverb that best describes what happened to the painting “Jaws”. For Steven Spielberg, the making of the film turned into sheer hell. Due to the endless breakdowns of mechanical sharks, the young director was out of budget and began to seriously lag behind the shooting schedule. To save the film, Spielberg had to reduce the screen time of the sea predator to a minimum and build up the tension with dexterous directorial and cinematography.Stephen's decision turned out to be life-changing. It was the bet on almost Hitchcock's suspense that made the film a hit worldwide. The film paid back its $ 7 million budget for more than 60 times and became the ancestor of the summer blockbuster genre. Although the 1975 film may give odds to many of the current Hollywood thrillers about the confrontation between people and sea monsters, actor Richard Dreyfuss believes that "Jaws" would not hurt to modernize a little. “I think it makes sense to erase the old shark and replace it with a new one drawn using computer graphics, - the performer of the role of oceanologist Matt Hooper admitted in an interview with Deadline. -Thanks to such a move, our film would surely become a huge success among today's youth. Richard Dreyfuss, of course, is right that not all representatives of the generation of viewers brought up on popcorn blockbusters can understand the special charm of hits of the old years, shot without the use of computer graphics. However, trying to replace the old shark with a CG model will surely cause a backlash from movie lovers. So, many fans of the space saga "Star Wars" at one time were dissatisfied with the fact that George Lucas did not just restore the sound and image in the original trilogy, but added many new scenes and redrawn several old characters.
