Mowgli got rid of the competition
The story of Andy Serkis' Mowgli film for Warner Bros. just got weirder. The very idea of the project originated in 2013, Ron Howard and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu were interested in it, until Serkis was chosen as the director of the film. For him, the picture, which began filming in 2015, became the director's debut. Due to circumstances, the WB bosses have postponed the premiere until this fall, but it looks like Mowgli will never make it to cinemas. Deadline reports that online service Netflix has bought the distribution rights from WB and is preparing it for a 2019 release.For his version of The Jungle Book, Serkis brought together an all-star cast including Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Benedict Cumberbatch. During filming Andy used motion capture technology, and post-production took a lot of effort and hours from the tape team. During this time, Serkis's second directorial work, the drama "Breathe for Us", even managed to reach the big screens. All these years, "The Jungle Book" of Disney studio breathed in the back of "Mowgli", and when it became clear that the House of Mouse would present its version earlier, the WB management decided to postpone the release of Serkis's film.
