Daniel Craig will explore the principles of violence

Image Daniel Craig has devoted a good half of the last decade to James Bond, but from time to time he reminds viewers that he is also a dramatic actor, capable not only of drinking a martini with vodka, but also displaying a whole palette of emotions on the screen. Craig has worked with different directors - from Matthew Vaughn to David Fincher and Stephen Soderbergh, and now his colleague will be Todd Field, a director who shoots rarely, but apt.

For nearly a decade, Field has been trying to film Boston Teran's novel The Violence Principle. Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale once claimed the lead roles in the adaptation, but the project was constantly postponed to the far corner. Now that Daniel Craig has agreed to take part in the filming, where he will go in the spring of 2020 after saying goodbye to 007, the tape finally has every chance of getting to theaters.

Events unfold in 1910 during the Mexican Revolution. The main character, a mercenary nicknamed Bony (Craig), and a young government agent John Lourdes head from Texas to Mexico to stop a gang of smugglers. Field has already sent out the script to various agencies to find a company for Craig as soon as possible.

During his career, Todd Field has directed only two feature films, dramas "In the Bedroom" and "Like Little Children," the latter being released in 2006. The films have earned eight Oscar nominations for two, so it's no surprise that Craig wants to work with a director. Their first collaboration was supposed to be the series Purity, but it never came to that.
