Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford said last year that they are committed to bringing Duke Nukem to the big screen and are close to signing an agreement with a major Hollywood studio. Following the success of Mortal Kombat, producer Lawrence Kasanoff admitted in 1996 that he was working on a film about the action hero Duke Nukem. However, the project was closed due to financial problems. Five years later, Kasanoff returned to implementing the idea, but nothing came of it. Shortly before the release of Max Payne, producer Scott Faye expressed a desire to adapt the video game, but he was not lucky either. The protagonist of the original is Duke Nukem, who is hired by the CIA to stop a mad scientist who dreams of seizing land with the help of an army of Techbots he created. So far, the film adaptation of the game has not acquired either a director or a screenwriter, but Paramount has already begun to search for the latter. The project has been entrusted to Michael Bay's production company Platinum Dunes.  John Cena has an excellent relationship with Paramount. The actor and wrestler recently appeared in the comedy Hello Dad New Year! 2 ”, and will soon play one of the main roles in the spin-off about Bumblebee.
