Sex, Politics and Russell Crowe

Image A month ago, we reported that Annapurna Pictures has stepped up work on the biopic of the controversial media mogul Roger Ayles, inviting Charlize Theron to co-star in the film. However, this is not the only project about Ayles that American producers are preparing: through the efforts of the Showtime channel, viewers will see his story not only on large, but also on small screens. According to the Collider website, the project has just lured another Hollywood star into its networks - Russell Crowe will play Ailes in the show.

The miniseries will be based on Gabriel Sherman's bestseller The Loudest Voice in the Room, which chronicles the rise and fall of the career of the former Fox News president. The eight-part drama will focus mostly on the last ten years of the media mogul's life, but it also captures Ailes 'meeting with Richard Nixon, which kick-started his political career, as well as sheds light on the sexual harassment allegations and proceedings that led to Ayles' resignation.

Ayles's story will be told from different perspectives: Sherman interviewed over 600 people at the time of writing. The author himself will act as a screenwriter for the first episode along with Oscar-winning Tom McCarthy (In the Spotlight).

For Russell Crowe, the Ayles project will be the first major TV role since Neighbors, where he starred early in his career. This year, the actor will delight fans of his work by appearing in the drama "The Disappeared Boy". Showtime's premieres will have to wait at least until 2019.
